which will feature experts on international criminal and medical law and the issue of human rights from the University of Aberystwyth in Wales – prof. Ryszard Piotrowicz, prof. John Williams and dr. Anel Boshoff.

This issue of the Review offers you a summary presentation of conclusion of the European Network Against Racism report on the state of racism and discrimination in the Czech Republic, which was written primarily by Center's members. Additionally, the Review features articles about the turbulent developments in the Slovak judiciary as well as at the Czech Constitutional Court. Last but not least, we invite you to read about the most recent major cases against the Czech Republic decided by the European Court of Human Rights.

Understanding the Syrian Conflict
will take place.
Ibrahim Fayad, a Syrian national who come from an area which was one of the most affected by the conflict and who currently studies political science at the Faculty of social science in Brno will talk about the conflict, its past, present and future.
Issues discussed will include: the role of international actors in the conflict (Iran, Russia, USA, Arab countries), the role of ethnic groups or religion.
Mgr. Kateřina Uhlířová, Ph.D., LL.M., an assistant professor at the Department of International and European Law, Faculty of Law at Masaryk University, became a new member of the Centre. She will join Ladislav Vyhnánek as the head of the section The Czech Republic and Human Rights.
Kateřina Uhlířová graduated from the faculty of Law both at Masaryk University and at Aberystwyth University in Great Britain. She worked at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and at Special Senate for War Crimes at the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She concentrates on topics related to the International Criminal Court, human rights, humanitarian and public international law in general, and she presented her papers at conferences in New York, San Francisco and many others.
