Human Rights for the Vulnerable,

which will feature experts on international criminal and medical law and the issue of human rights from the University of Aberystwyth in Wales – prof. Ryszard Piotrowicz, prof. John Williams and dr. Anel Boshoff.

The introductory notes and subsequent discussion will be focusing on obstacles and challenges regarding effective implementation of human rights of

  • persons with intellectual disabilities and mental health problems, with emphasis on persons whose personal freedom is restricted as a result of placement in health care facilities,
  • persons deprived of liberty as a result of placement in prison, and 
  • seniors.

The workshop is organized by the Faculty of Law, Masaryk University, in the cooperation with the Czech Centre for Human Rights and Democracy within the project "The Law into Practice and the Practice into Law: Partnership for Closer Connection between Research and Practice". The workshop will be held in English and will be moderated by Mrs. Kateřina Uhlířová (Department of International and European Law).
