Činnost Centra pro lidská práva a demokracii zajišťuje tým odborníků, kteří působí v akademických, justičních a dalších institucích v rámci ČR. Každý z nich zajišťuje jeden z tematických panelů, kterým se Centrum zabývá, a do kterých je rozdělena i pozornost měsíčního Bulletinu Centra. Těmito oblastmi jsou mezinárodní trestní spravedlnost, evropský systém ochrany lidských práv, mezinárodní politika a lidská práva a také Česká republika a lidská práva.

Zapsanými členy Centra jsou Lucie Nechvátalová, Michaela Stenzelová, Alžběta Dvořáková, Nikola Burdová, Tomáš Opat, Pavel Doubek, Jan Lhotský a Monika Hanych. Náš tým odborníků je však širší a níže uvádíme oblasti jejich expertizy a odpovědnosti.

Head of section International Politics, Business and Human Rights

Michaela obtained a university degree in Law, International Relations and European Studies at Masaryk University. She worked as an intern within the structures of the Czech Republic in Rome and at the UN in New York. Recently, she completed a one-year assignment at the UNODC Regional Programme Office in Sarajevo. Michaela is interested in human rights, international affairs, cross-border crimes and cyber threats.

Head of section European System of Human Rights Protection

Tomáš graduated from the Faculty of Law of Charles University in Prague, where he mainly focused on international law and human rights. After obtaining the law degree, he served as an intern at NATO, where he worked in the Political Planning Unit of the Secretary General’s office. He currently works as a parliamentary assistant in the European Parliament, where he focuses on issues related to committees on foreign interference and disinformation, as well as culture, and education.

Head of section Czech Republic and Human Rights

Lucie graduated from the Faculty of Law at Masaryk University. She also studied human rights and democratization at the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC) in Venice and the Université de Strasbourg. She was an intern at the UN European Court of Human Rights and the Public Defender of Rights. Currently she works at the Supreme administrative court as an assistant to a judge. She is interested in the European system of protecting human rights, particularly the prohibition of wrongful treatment, positive duties of states and compensation.

Administrator of Centre's Blog

Dagmar graduated from the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University in Brno and holds an LL.M. degree in Public International Law from the University of Oslo. She currently works for a Norwegian humanitarian organization in the field of demining and disarmament, where she focuses mainly on Afghanistan and Tajikistan. She is also interested in international humanitarian law,  international criminal law and the protection of human rights.

Event Manager

Karolína is a second-year master’s student at the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University in Brno. She is mainly interested in the protection of human rights and environmental law. Karolína is currently an intern at the Organization for Aid to Refugees.

Head of the Centre and Head of section International Politics, Business and Human Rights

Alžběta studied Security and Strategic Studies and International Relations at Masaryk University in Brno. Previously, she completed an internship at the Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic to the United Nations in New York, where she focused on international security and disarmament. She is also a successful graduate of the OSCE Scholarship for Peace and Security, which focused on arms control. She is interested in Pakistan and Afghanistan, disarmament, and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. 

Editor of the Human Rights Bulletin and the Czech Republic Human Rights Review

Pavel began his legal journey in Brno, where he received his master and PhD degree in law (Masaryk University) and started a first job as a legal clerk at the Office of the Public Defender of Rights. Here, he got a passion for human rights, especially the rights of detainees. Between 2019 and 2022 he got three postdoctoral fellowships in Taiwan, where he carried out research in the area of torture monitoring under the UN Convention against Torture. During these fruitful Taiwanese days, he has published several papers in international legal journals, taught at university and set up for a new journey of parenthood. Pavel is currently back home in Brno and works as a legal assistant at the Supreme Administrative Court.
