Head of the Centre, editor of the V4 Human Rights Review, editor of the Bulletin of Human Rights and head of section International Criminal Justice

Jan is the head of the Czech Centre for Human Rights and Democracy. After finishing his studies in law, as well as in economics, he continued with PhD studies in international law. He also obtained an E.MA degree in human rights from Venice and Graz. He worked in a law firm, as well as in the Legal Affairs Division of the European External Action Service in Brussels, which is responsible for EU external relations. Later he worked as a Visiting Professional in the Chambers of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, and subsequently as a lawyer at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. Currently he works at the Czech Ombudsperson's Office and as a senior researcher at the Centre for International Law of the Institute of International Relations in Prague. Within the area of international law, he focuses mainly on human rights and international criminal law.
