The Centre for Human Rights and Democracy operates mainly in the Czech language. The traditional internships are opened once a year and are described in more detail here. A native level of the Czech (or Slovak) language is required because a necessary part of the internship is writing short articles in these languages.
However, the Centre also partially operates in English, mostly with regards to our relations with foreign institutions and experts, the publication of the Czech Republic Human Rights Review (the “English Bulletin”) and the English webpage of our Centre that needs to be updated.
Therefore, on an ad hoc basis, we can also engage an intern who does not speak Czech. In such a case, however, he or she must be a native English speaker, as most of the tasks would consist of proofreading English texts drafted by the members of the Centre or writing human rights´ blogposts on our website. Unfortunately, for this ad hoc internship focused mainly on proofreading, we are not able to accept any candidates whose native language is not English.

The acceptance will depend on our actual needs. In case of a positive answer, apart from the proofreading, it could be possible to contribute short texts to our blog or the English Bulletin. The internship would be unpaid and on average we have one short text a week that needs proofreading. We also provide a certificate of the completion of the internship.
